John Harrington, J.D.

John Harrington, partner of Johnson, Marcou & Isaacs, has extensive experience in all aspects of patent prosecution in the United States and abroad, including proceedings before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences; counseling and opinions on patentability, infringement, clearance, and validity; audits and due diligence; as well as negotiating and drafting contracts and licenses. 

 

Mr. Harrington specializes in patent prosecution focusing primarily on computer software patents in the financial services industry including successful prosecution of numerous patents relating to on-line transaction and trading systems; ATMs and ATM systems; transaction cards and card systems; account management, financial forecasting and accounting; and interactive voice response systems. He also has substantial experience in electronics, automotive components, metallurgical processes, industrial seals, engineered products, industrial engines, communication satellites, telecommunications, RFID devices, defense and security related technology, advanced metering infrastructure, fiber optic and metal cables, medical devices, optical disc technology, textiles, food products, furniture and furniture components, and cabinetry components. 

 

Formerly, Mr. Harrington was counsel with King & Spalding LLP Intellectual Property Practice Group in Charlotte, N.C. 

 

Mr. Harrington holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University and law degree from the University of South Carolina.
