Michael B. Scher, J.D., Ph.D.

Associate

Michael B. Scher, Ph.D., is an Associate with Johnson, Marcou & Isaacs.  Dr. Scher focuses his practice on a variety of intellectual property aspects, including patent prosecution matters and due diligence.  In particular, he prepares and prosecutes patent applications in complex biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields, including personalized therapeutics, genome engineering, immunology and research tools.  He has extensive scientific research experience and has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications in a wide range of areas, including epigenetics, chromatin structure, post-translational modifications in the regulation of gene expression, and cancer diagnostics.

Dr. Scher obtained a Ph.D., in biochemistry from Rutgers Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (formerly UMDNJ-GSBS) where he carried out research in gene regulation, epigenetic and chromatin biology.  He graduated from Rutgers School of Law.  Finally, Dr. Scher is a registered patent attorney with experience in patent and trademark prosecution.
